இந்தக் கதை 2011 இல் தொடங்குகிறது. மட்டைப்பந்து உலகக்கோப்பையில் இந்திய அணி அபார வெற்றி பெற்று இவ்விளையாட்டை இளைஞர்களிடையே எழுச்சி பெற வைத்தது. 10 ருபாய்க்கு விற்றுக்கொண்டு இருந்த ஸ்டும்பேர் லப்பர் பந்தை சிறுவர்களும் பெரியவர்களும் அதிகப்படியாக வாங்கி ஆறு ஓட்டங்கள் அடித்து பந்தைத் தொலைத்தனர். ரப்பர் மரங்களுக்கு ரணங்கள் புதிது இல்லை என்றாலும், இப்படி தொலைக்கப்பட்டு மீட்கப்படாத அந்த லப்பர் பந்துகளால் உலகின் ரப்பர் உற்பத்தி பாதிக்கப்பட்டது.
